We have teams in the Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and Worcestershire leagues. We have teams catering for players of all abilities, ranging from our first team in division 2 of the Wolverhampton league to a team specially for less experienced players in the Worcester and District league.
The chess season lasts from September to May but during the Summer we hold internal events to keep in practice.
Experienced players
For the more experienced player we will assess your level of play and place you in the team best suited to your ability. We are able to register players for teams at any stage of the season.
Less experienced players
If you have never played competitive chess before, we will teach you how to write down the moves, use a clock and give you tips to improve your play. If you do not want to play competitive chess you are welcome to come along to Stourbridge Chess Club for a friendly game and a pint (or two).
Membership
Chess club membership runs from September to September but you can join throughout the year. To play competitive rated games you need to be a member of the ECF
